Documents to be submitted

ALL QUALIFICATIONS

(1) Upon FIRST registration for UNDERGRADUATE studies (towards a BACHELOR'S DEGREE), the following documents must be submitted TOGETHER with your application:

  • High School Diploma (Grade 12 level)  together with a transcript of your complete academic record
  • A copy of your identity documents, passport or birth certificates reflecting your full name and date of birth. A foreign student must have the above document certified by IACI, a SA Embassy, Consulate, High Commission, Trade Mission or Public Notary
  • A married woman will be registered in the name as indicated on her High School Diploma or senior certificate unless her marriage certificate or, where applicable, divorce papers are submitted

 

(2) The documents indicated below must be submitted together with a student's application for admission to POSTGRADUATE studies. If you COMPLETED a degree or diploma at another university, you must submit evidence thereof together with your application for registration. Note that your original academic record will be required if you wish to apply for exemptions by virtue of courses you have already passed.

 

(i). HONORS BACHELOR'S DEGREES

  • If you did not obtain your bachelor's degree at UNISA, you must submit an original transcript of your complete academic record, issued by the REGISTRAR of the university concerned. The transcript must include all years of registration and if you were previously registered at more than one other university, you must obtain a transcript of your academic record from each of the universities concerned.
  • A copy of your identity documents, passport or birth certificates reflecting your full name and date of birth. A foreign student must have the above document certified by IACI, a SA Embassy, Consulate, High Commission, Trade Mission or Public Notary.
  • A married woman will be registered in the name as indicated on her bachelor's degree certificate unless a certified copy of her marriage certificate or, where applicable, divorce papers are submitted.

 

(ii). MASTER'S DEGREES

  • If you did not obtain the qualification prescribed for admission at UNISA, you must submit an original transcript of your complete academic record for the relevant degree, issued by the REGISTRAR of the university concerned. In the case of a completed honors bachelor's degree, the percentages or symbols obtained in each paper must be indicated on the transcript.
  • A copy of your identity documents, passport or birth certificates reflecting your full name and date of birth. A foreign student must have the above document certified by IACI, a SA Embassy, Consulate, High Commission, Trade Mission or Public Notary.
  • A married woman will be registered in the name as indicated on her certificate for the qualification prescribed for admission unless a certified copy of her marriage certificate or, where applicable, divorce papers are submitted.

 

(iii). DOCTOR'S DEGREES

  • If you did not obtain the qualification prescribed for admission at UNISA, you must submit an original transcript of your complete academic record for the relevant degree, issued by the REGISTRAR of the university concerned. In the case of a completed master's degree, the percentage or symbol obtained or the standard reached, must be indicated on the transcript. Since the Head of the Department may demand your entire academic record, you are advised to submit a transcript of the academic record for your bachelor's degree and honours bachelor's degree as well.
  • A copy of your identity documents, passport or birth certificates reflecting your full name and date of birth. A foreign student must have the above document certified by IACI, a SA Embassy, Consulate, High Commission, Trade Mission or Public Notary.
  • A married woman will be registered in the name as indicated on her certificate for the qualification prescribed for admission unless a certified copy of her marriage certificate or, where applicable, divorce papers are submitted.

Please note:

  • Certified documents submitted to UNISA by IACI on your behalf will be retained by the University and will NOT be returned to you.

  • IACI doesn't guarantee your acceptance to UNISA programs

  • Relevant Submission and Certification fees will not be refunded

  • A student for an honors bachelor's degree may either first obtain admission to the course of studies and thereafter forward your registration form and fees, or send the form and fees when applying for admission. The latter procedure will expedite matters and if you are not admitted, the fees will be refunded. Since it takes time to deal with applications, you are advised to obtain admission to the course of studies without delay so that your registration can be effected as soon as possible after the opening date for registration.
