Matriculation Endorsement or a Certificate of Exemption?

 
Bachelor's degree
To qualify for admission to studies for a Bachelor's degree a student must hold a senior certificate with a matriculation endorsement or qualify for a certificate of exemption. For Canadian and USA students, please see Entry Requirements.
 
If you do not hold a senior certificate with a matriculation endorsement, refer to the checklist below to ascertain whether or not you are eligible to apply for one of the types of exemption mentioned below:
 
South African students:
  • a national senior certificate (NSC) with entry level degree
  • a senior certificate with matriculation or university admission endorsement (exemption); or
  • a certificate of full or conditional exemption issued by the Matriculation Board of Higher Education South Africa (HESA)
USA and Candian students:
Please see the Type of Exemption (e.g. High School Graduation Diploma, General Education Diploma (GED) or Mature Age).
 
 
Bachelor of Technology degrees
To be registered for a BTech degree, a student must hold an applicable National Diploma and/or comply with any other requirements as stipulated under 'Admission' to the specific qualification in the relevant College Calendar.
 
 
 
1.   Complete exemption on grounds of A- and O-levels:  If you pass a combination of five A- and O-level subjects, such as: English Language. any 2nd Language, Mathematics, Biology, Science, Geology, Physiology, General Science, a 3rd Language
  • If you answered "YES" to all the above questions you may apply for complete exemption. [Download an application form]
       
  • If you answered "NO" email us your application and we'll value it.
 
 
 
2.   Conditional Exemption on grounds of mature age (+23) (O-Level students):
Will you be at least 23 years old before or on 31/12/2009? pass at least four O-level subjects? Such as English Language one of the subjects you passed?
  • If you answered "YES" to all the above questions you may apply for conditional exemption on grounds of mature age.[Download an application form]

3.   Conditional Exemption on grounds of mature age (persons of 45 or older) (+45):
Will you be at least 45 years old before or on 31/12/2009?
