The sequence of degrees is as follows:
Bachelors, Honors Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral
in the same major subject (i.e. a
Bachelor’s with a major in Public Administration, an Honours Bachelor’s
in Public Administration, a Master’s degree in Public Administration). The Bachelor's degrees are three year degrees
with two majors in third year level. The Honor's degree represents a
fourth year where the student specializes in one of his majors - the
curriculum is typically comprised of 4-6 papers. The Master's Degree is
dissertation on an approved topic. The Curriculum for Master's Degree is
comprised of either: a dissertation on an approved topic or, papers and
a dissertation of limited scope on approved topics.
A doctoral
degree is the highest academic qualification universities can award. It
indicates that the successful candidate is able not only to collect,
arrange and use existing knowledge, but can also contribute to that
knowledge.
The curriculum for
the degree consists of a research thesis on an approved topic in the
specific field of study of the student. The only criteria for
re-registration are that a student must proof to his promoter that he
did make sufficient progress with his research during an academic year.
